“On Call in Iraq” is a fascinating and educational tour of Iraq through the eyes of Dr. Sudip Bose in which he:

1) Guides the audience through an exclusive virtual tour of the combat zone as demonstrated through photographs and video footage*, while remaining apolitical. Audience members will be able to apply the lessons learned from the harsh conditions faced by U.S. soldiers and local Iraqis to everyday life challenges.

2) Demonstrates how the individual’s role in the organization aids in accomplishing the overarching goals of the group, by drawing on Dr. Bose’s experience as a combat physician. Audience members will be able to use these analogies to improve their roles as “soldiers” in relation to larger “Army” goals.

3) Explains how critical evaluation of weaknesses can inspire innovation. Dr. Bose outlines the development of the echelon structure of military medicine and how it has placed advanced medicine in the forward position with the initial attack force, leading to a dramatic reduction in battlefield fatalities. He assists the audience in using similar critical evaluation skills to identify their “battlefield” and decrease their “fatalities.”

4) Discusses the imminent psychiatric abrasions on thousands of troops assigned to the combat zone and the impact of their reintegration into every facet of American life. Audience members will undoubtedly run into war veterans and understanding their perspectives will help future interactions.

5) Shows how continuing to rethink a problem leads to development of new practice techniques. Dr. Bose’s first-hand experiences will inspire innovation and enable the audience to think “outside the box”.
